Wedel also had four rebounds. Andrew Ulvestad also gave the Golden Eagles fits by scoring 15 points, doling out 11 assists and grabbing seven rebounds.

“James Valley Christian is the type of team that can hurt you from all spots on the court,” MCS boys’ basketball coach Dennis Martin said. “They are a very good team and they shot the ball really well from all over the court.”

JVC was 6-of-13 from three-point range and outrebounded MCS 24-20.

The Golden Eagles were led by Chandler Nelson, who scored 13 points. Austin Bormann chipped in with 11 points, while Wes Vander Pol had eight points and five rebounds. Mitchell Christian (4-12) was 12-of-35 from the field and committed 23 turnovers.

“Our kids came out ready to play,” Martin said. “I felt like we played really hard and left it out on the court.”

MCS plays Hanson Thursday at Mitchell Christian School, while JVC (15-1) hosts Dakota Christian Friday in Huron.
