Wesleyan men’s golf takes fifth at Mount Marty Invitational
YANKTON — The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s golf team finished fifth, shooting a 309 at the Mount Marty College Invitational Thursday in Yankton.
Anthony Husher and Tom Hogg each shot a 76 to tie for 12th to pace the Tigers, while Tyler Burr finished tied for 22nd with a 78. Northwestern won the event with a 298, led by individual winner Ryan Kiewiet, who finished with a 68.
The Tigers return to Yankton for the Great Plains Athletic Conference Qualifier No. 4 Monday.
Tigers even GPAC record with sweep of Defenders
The Dakota Wesleyan University baseball team swept Dordt College in the team’s final regular-season home games and evened its Great Plains Athletic Conference record Thursday at Cadwell Park in Mitchell.
The Tigers (23-21, 9-9 GPAC) topped the Defenders 12-6 in the opener and 8-3 in the finale. Jared Neilan went 4-for-4 in the first game with four RBIs and four runs scored, while Ben Spitznagel finished 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Wes Snyder pitched the complete game for DWU to finish the doubleheader, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits and struck out four. Jonah Johnson was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, while Sam Schumacher and Tyler Johnson each added a pair of hits and an RBI.
The Tigers wrap up their regular season with a doubleheader against GPAC rival Mount Marty at 4 p.m. Saturday in Yankton.
