Franklin David Korkow
Franklin Korkow, 81, of Canistota passed away after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Home in Canistota. Funeral services will be held at 4 pm on Saturday, August 9 at Zion Lutheran Church in Canistota. Visitation will begin at 12pm on Friday at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem with family present from 5 - 7 pm.
Franklin David Korkow, son of William and Wilhelmina (Giegling) Korkow was born on February 21, 1933 on the family farm northeast of Canistota where he lived his entire life. Frank attended Greenland #4 country school and helped on the farm until he entered the Navy on March 6, 1956 and proudly served his country until his discharge on December 19, 1957. He then returned to the family farm and continued farming in partnership with his brother Dale. They both retired from farming in 2008.
Frank never married but was a loving, caring uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He loved animals and spent many hours caring for his cattle. He enjoyed driving around the country watching for wildlife and hunting. He was very patient in teaching his nephews how to hunt properly and safely.
He is survived by: his brother, Dale of Canistota; three sisters, Louise Bormann of Canistota, Doris Koepp of Canistota and Alice Taylor of St. James, MN; and many nieces and nephews and friends who will mourn his loss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Leonard, Alvin, Bill, John, Martin and Ronald and four sisters, Erna, Mable, Loretta and Ardelle. www.kinzleyfh.com
