Fort Thompson man gets prison failing to register as a sex offender
A Fort Thompson man was sentenced to 24 months in prison Monday for failing to register as a sex offender earlier this year.
David George Flute III, 21, will also spend five years on supervised release.
A federal grand jury indicted him in June and he pleaded guilty to the charge in September.
He was previously convicted of a sex offense that required him to register as a sex offender. He signed paperwork in February acknowledging the need to register. In May, he disappeared and failed to change and update his registration.
The U.S. Marshal's Service investigated this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuted the case.
Flute was immediately turned over to the U.S. Marshal to begin serving his sentence.
