Five MAC swimmers win in Huron over weekend
HURON -- The Mitchell Aquatic Club crowned five champions at the Huron Splash City Invite over the weekend.
Ethan Huber won five events, Brynn Palmer claimed three titles, Jakob Studer won two and Taylor Studer and Max Alexander each took home one title.
Huber, who competed in the boys 13-14 division, won titles in the 200-meter freestyle, 400 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and the 400 IM. Palmer took first in the 400 freestyle, 50 backstroke and 100 backstroke in the girls 11-12 division.
Jakob Studer competed in the boys 13-14 division, winning the 800 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Taylor Studer won the 200 backstroke in the girls 11-12 division, while Alexander won the 200 breaststroke in the boys 13-14 division.
Three MAC swimmers qualified to the state championship for the first time, including Stella Bulls in two events, Abbey Grajkowske in one event and Taylor Solomon in one event.
MAC is hosting its first of two swim meets Friday through Sunday.
Mitchell has 44 swimmers competing at the annual Corn Palace Invitational at the Mitchell Aquatic Center this weekend and there will be 319 total swimmers at the event from around South Dakota and Minnesota.
MAC hosts the state championship July 25-27.
