Faulkton voters approve tax freeze opt out

FAULKTON (AP) — Voters in the northeastern South Dakota town of Faulkton have approved an opt out of the state property tax freeze.

School officials say 60 percent of voters approved the move in Tuesday's election. The opt out will generate an estimated $450,000 annually for five years for the school district.

The election drew 401 voters.
