Evelyn Thompson, age 87, of Napa, CA, died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Servicemens Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel.
Evelyn Lubbers, daughter of Abba and Anna (Bunger) Lubbers, was born July 2, 1926 in rural Alexandria, SD and attended country school near Alexandria. After her schooling, Evelyn was employed at Methodist Hospital.
She was united in marriage with Richard Thompson on February 15, 1947 in Alexandria, SD. To this union the couple was blessed with two daughters. The couple lived in Alabama for a short time before moving to Costa Mesa, CA. While in Costa Mesa, they were involved in the construction business. Evelyn and Richard then purchased a resort on a lake in Northern California. After retirement they continued to live in Northern California. After Richards death on October 23, 2001, Evelyn made her home in Napa, CA. She continued to live in Napa until her death.
Evelyn enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crotcheting .
Grateful for having shared her life are her two daughters, Carol Bruebaker and Rose Stratton; a brother, Melvin (Nancy) Lubbers; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
