Ethan/Parkston’s Heisinger takes 18th in Class A state race
RAPID CITY —Ethan/Parkston runner Taya Heisinger was the highest individual finisher at the Class A girls cross country state championship.
Heisinger ran a time of 15 minutes and 49.73 seconds to finish 18th in the girls 4K race. Bon Homme’s Maddison Hajek finished 21st with a time of 15:52.98, while Ethan/Parkston’s Lexy Leischner finished 29th with a time of 16:14.58 to round out the top 30.
Madisen Lavin of Vermillion won the girls’ 4K race with a time of 14:45.38.
On the boys’ side Logan Burns of Custer won the 5K race, which featured 128 runners. He finished with a time of 16:27.85. Eric Yager of Hot Springs finished second with a time of 16:56.40.
Ethan/Parkston’s Nick Zolnowsky was the area’s highest finisher. He came in 24th place after running a time of 18:01.60. Coleton Schuyler was the Winner Warriors highest finisher, he ran a time of 18:9.60 for 33rd place.
Todd County won the boys’ team title, with help from Tobias Weddell, who finished fourth. Garretson won the girls’ team title led by Carmen Bohl, who finished third.
