Edward Spelbring, 67, Morgan, MN, formerly of Mitchell died Friday, August 1, 2014. Services will be Friday, August 8, 2014, 11:00 AM at the Resurrection Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Edward David Spelbring died unexpectedly Friday August 1, 2014 at his home in Morgan, MN due to cardiac arrest. Edward was born on February 9, 1947 to Charley and Burnette (Knutson) Spelbring in Huron, SD. He was raised in Forestburg, SD and attended and graduated from Forestburg High School in 1966.

Edward was married to Karen Anderson from September 17, 1966 until May of 2006 and resided in Mitchell, SD for most of his life. From this union they had three children, Chad, Kari (Rickel) and Kimberly (Palmer). He was a charter member of Resurrection Lutheran church while in Mitchell, SD. He was also a member of the Mitchell Exchange Club and helped to develop the Bear with Me program.

Edward was a dedicated man and throughout his lifetime he was employed with Barry and Sons Motors, Campbell Supply, Sunshine Foods and Toshiba. For the last twenty years he was employed with Martin Group (CHR Solutions).

Edward married Maria Hacker in January 2007 and resided in Morgan, MN for the last ten years of his life with Maria and her daughter, Jenica.

Edward was an avid hunter and was happiest when he was enjoying the outdoors hunting deer and pheasant. He was hardworking and a loving father and grandfather. He was a father figure to his oldest granddaughter and shared a special connection with his great-granddaughter. He was loved and respected by those who knew him. Edward was deeply loved by his children, grandchildren, family and friends and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his former wife, Karen and their three children, Chad (Cindy) Spelbring, Savage, MN, Kari Rickel, Mitchell, SD and Kim (Casey) Palmer, Mitchell, SD; their grandchildren, Matthew Spelbring, Lauren Spelbring, Jake Rickel, Hope Kayl, Hunter Tyler, Hayse Spelbring and their great-granddaughter, Bentley Picht; his siblings Rod (Beverly) Spelbring, Shirley Olson, Peggy (Francis) Taft, Jim (Dawn) Spelbring and Mike (Barb) Spelbring, his wife, Maria Spelbring and her daughter, Jenica and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Grace Spelbring; grandparents, James and Mabel Spelbring and Andrew and Clara Knutson; parents, Charley and Burnette Spelbring; brothers, Donald and Everett Spelbring, brother-in-law Doyle Olson; and former mother-in-law Blanche Anderson.
