Eagle Butte woman gets prison for padding timesheets
PIERRE (AP) — An Eagle Butte woman has been sentenced for stealing from the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Police Department when she worked there.
Forty-one-year-old Kristi Lawrence was given three months in federal custody and six months of home confinement, to be followed by three years of supervised release. She also must pay nearly $88,000 in restitution.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Lawrence manipulated timesheets over a two-year period starting October 2012 to obtain unauthorized overtime pay. She pleaded guilty last December to a charge of theft from an Indian tribal organization.
