DWU wrestling team defeats St. Olaf 22-18

The Dakota Wesleyan wrestling team defeated St. Olaf College 22-18 in a nonconference dual Thursday at the Christen Family Wellness Center.

With two matches left, the Tigers (2-0) were down 18-16 to the Lions when 197 pounder Jade Hosington gave Dakota Wesleyan a 19-18 lead with a 5-3 decision against Ryan Williamson.

Heavyweight Eric Gruis sealed the victory for the Tigers with a 5-3 decision over Zach Gibson.

St. Olaf, which was the 19th-ranked team in NCAA Division III, remains winless in its two matches this season.

The DWU wrestling team, ranked 16th in the NAIA, is in action next on Saturday at the Augsburg Open in Minneapolis.
