“This is a confidence booster going into Wednesday’s game,” said DWU head coach Jason Christensen, whose team hosts No. 3 Northwestern on its senior night. “We get two more opportunities to beat a team who’s rated this week.”

Wednesday’s game begins at 6 p.m., while the Tigers’ second chance for an upset is Saturday against No. 5 Hastings on the road.

DWU built a 50-19 lead at halftime and shot 52 percent from the field in the game and Christensen was happy with his team’s offensive effort.

“It was nice that we were able to work on some things for Wednesday’s game in the second half,” he said. “Our ball movement was real good and we were able to get the open person and make that extra pass to the person who had the better shot.”

The Tigers had four players score in double figures. Celeste Beck and Erica Herrold each knocked down 18 points for the Tigers with Beck making 4 of 4 three-point shots. Kristin Sabers recorded 15 points, Kim Johnson had 11 and Micaela Erickson brought down 10 rebounds. The Tigers outrebounded Trinity Bible 47-34.

Kayla Droste had 13 points, Kylie Simonsen scored 11 and Janae Droste added 10 for Trinity Bible, which shot just 32 percent from the field.
