HASTINGS, Neb. -- Dakota Wesleyan University junior forward Katie Johnson scored a season-high 26 points, but it was not enough to help the Tiger women, who fell Hastings College 99-86 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup Saturday.

Despite shooting 50 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free-throw line, the Tigers (17-12, 9-10 GPAC) were plagued by 20 turnovers.

"Offensively we played pretty well,” DWU women’s basketball coach Jason Christensen said. “We did a lot of good things, but we had 20 turnovers again and those turn into points.”

Senior forward Kim Johnson added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers, while senior guard Amanda Hart had 14 points and Celeste Beck had 12 points and six assists.

No. 5 Hastings (24-3, 15-3 GPAC) was led by a trio of scorers with over 20 points. Cami Bruckman led the way 27 points and eight rebounds, while Jamie Van Kirk added 24 points and Laurel Zwiener had 20 points.

"I didn't think we were as sharp as we needed to be defensively," Christensen said. “We didn't get stops when we needed to get stops.”

DWU ends its regular season against Mount Marty at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Yankton.
