The Tigers committed 30 turnovers, 25 of which were steals by Morningside.

“It just wasn’t our night,” said fourth-year DWU women’s basketball coach Jason Christensen, who added it was his only comment.

The Mustangs also had three players score in double figures Wednesday. Allison Bachman, Ashlynn Muhl and Taylor Bahensky each tallied 10 points, while Lexi Ackerman and Leann Osten added nine points for Morningside.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 41-18 lead in the first half with the help of some cold shooting from the Tigers. In the opening half, DWU shot 27.8 percent from the field.

Wesleyan improved its shooting percentage in the second half to 41.4 percent, but it was not enough for the Tigers to mount a comeback.

Senior guard and Alexandria native Amanda Hart had a team-high 14 points for Wesleyan, which finished 17-of-47 from the field. Celeste Beck and Micaela Erickson each added 10 points for the Tigers, who were outrebounded 40-33.

Morningside advances to face Hastings College Saturday in Hastings, Neb., while DWU ends its season 18-13.
