LINCOLN, Neb. — Senior guard Amanda Hart and junior guard Celeste Beck combined to make nine 3-pointers to help the Dakota Wesleyan University women’s basketball team beat Great Plains Athletic Conference foe Nebraska Wesleyan University 79-65 Saturday.

Beck drained 4 of 5 threes en route to scoring 24 points, while Hart, an Alexandria native, made 5 of 12 threes to score 21 points.

The Tigers (13-6, 6-4 GPAC) finished the game 10-of-20 from behind the three point line.

Dimock native and DWU freshman forward Erica Herrold had 10 points. Junior forward Kim Johnson had eight points, seven assists and 10 rebounds, while Mitchell native and DWU point guard Taylor Piper had seven points.

The Tigers fell behind 21-15 early, but battle back to take a 36-27 lead into halftime.

Wesleyan stretched its lead to 19 points in the second half, despite NWU’s best attempts to make a comeback.

The Prairie Wolves (1-15, 0-11 GPAC) were led by Courtney Cook, who finished with 19 points and seven rebounds. Bridget Bucher chipped in with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

DWU hits the court against Briar Cliff University 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
