DWU faced a 22-6 deficit just over halfway through the first half after errant shooting by the Tigers, who made only 8 of 33 first-half field goals, giving Jamestown the early lead.

Jamestown's players padded their lead by taking advantage of frequent free-throw opportunities, sinking 16 of 19 in the first half, and shooting 78 percent overall from the line.

DWU coach Jason Christensen said it was the athleticism of Jamestown's players that got them to the free-throw line so often.

Scoring picked up for both teams in the second half, but the Tigers were unable to overcome the Jimmies' early advantage, and fell to 1-1 on the season.

Christensen blamed the loss on his team's poor first-half shooting and late mental mistakes.

"If you're going to compete, you need to shoot better," he said. "We need more positive runs."

Jamestown's Megan Pold led all players with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Brittany Pritchard led DWU in scoring for the second consecutive game with 13 points. Taylor Piper led the Tigers in rebounds with seven.
