DWU softball drops pair to Northwestern

The Dakota Wesleyan University softball team dropped both its games to Great Plains Athletic foe Northwestern College 11-3, 6-4 Wednesday at McWhirter Field in Mitchell.

DWU pitcher Jill Dickson pitched the first three innings of the both games. She allowed four earned runs on seven hits in the first contest and three earned runs on five hits in the second game.

Lorissa Loeppky came in as relief for the Tigers in both games. She threw two innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits in the first game, and pitched four innings, allowing one earned run on two hits, in the second game.

Catcher Hailey Unger, third baseman Vanessa Mendez and shortstop Lindy Snook finished the day with three hits for Wesleyan. Leftfielder Tiffany Sharp, second baseman Katie Anderus and centerfielder Danielle Klassen added two hits.

DWU (5-7, 0-2) hits the road next for a doubleheader against Doane College Saturday in Crete, Neb.
