DWU enrollment even higher than projected
Dakota Wesleyan University's enrollment is now officially a school record, and it's higher than originally thought.
Monday was the final add/drop day for students, and enrollment was 883.
The number surpassed the school's former enrollment peak of 850, which came in 1966, according to DWU Vice President of University Relations Lori Essig.
This year's enrollment is up 36 students from last year and 104 students from 2011. The enrollment jumped 10 students from the projected 873 that was estimated about one week before the final tally.
"We had a few late applicants who we were able to get started this semester and we had some online students who wanted to get started now and not wait until the spring semester," Essig said. "It wasn't just one thing for why the enrollment rose from what we thought it would be, but we're really pleased with the number."
