Dog bites Letcher woman
LETCHER -- A Letcher woman was bitten by her dog Tuesday after she tried to break up a fight between her golden retriever and blue heeler.
Sgt. Mike Koster, of the Mitchell Police Division, said a woman went to Avera Urgent Care in Mitchell Tuesday around 6:45 p.m. with a single puncture wound on the bottom of her left arm. It was described in a report as an inch and a half long and a half inch wide, for which she received stitches. The Mitchell Police Division assisted in the matter, but the Davison County Sheriff's Office is the main investigative entity.
According to the police report, Koster said the woman's dogs were fighting and she tried to break them up. The golden retriever bit her in the process. The woman said both her dogs have up-to-date rabies shots, which Davison County Deputy Tim Reitzel said he confirmed with the dogs' veterinarian. Reitzel declined to release the dog owner's name, but said her dogs are being monitored for the next 10 days as a precaution.
