Diane M. Big Eagle
Memorial services for Diane M. Big Eagle, 68, of Fort Thompson will be Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Chamberlain, SD with additional seating available at the Oacoma Community Center in Oacoma, SD.
Diana Marie Rabbit was born November 3, 1945 to Elizabeth Rabbit and Sonny Ziegler. She grew up in the Children's Home Society and with her grandmother in the Big Bend area. She was adopted in her teens by James Burch and Carmen Trujillo of Albuquerque, NM. In August 1972, she was united in marriage to Duane Big Eagle, Sr.
Together, they raised nine children: Paul, Marlys, Eric, Cory, Sunny, Weston, Kristy, Micah, and Duane, Jr. They spent most of their lives in the Fort Thompson, SD area.
Diane always had an interest in spiritual matters and in 1981, she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She diligently spent time in the ministry helping others to know about Jehovah.
Diane peacefully passed away on November 24, 2013 surrounded by her family at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 68 years. Gratefully sharing her life are her adopted mother Carmen Trujillo; husband Duane; eight children; 28 grandchildren; two sisters Christine Selwyn and Wilma Wilson; two brothers Victor "Roy" Ziegler and Francis Ziegler; and a host of relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers Allen "Tuffy" Ziegler and William "Billy" Ziegler; son Cory Big Eagle, Sr.; a grandson Brendyn Levi Big Eagle; and her adopted father James Burch .
