MCS was led by Alexa Van Laecken and Emily Reynen, who each scored 11 points. Van Laecken added four assists and four steals. Cassidy Graham added 10 point and three steals, while Ashley Schmit had seven points and nine rebounds for the Golden Eagles, who outrebounded the Huskies 29-22.

“We had a little bit of a slow start,” MCS girls’ basketball coach Jackie Van Laecken said. “Neither team shot well early, but in the second half we started to pick up our defense, and we started to work on things that we need to work on for districts.”

No Bridgewater-Emery player scored in double figures. Tiana Kayser and Justine Dye had six points apiece to lead the Huskies in scoring. Dye also had three assists, Kayser added five steals, Kadra Kayser and Selbee Schultz added five rebounds.

Bridgewater-Emery ends its regular season 9-11, while MCS (16-3) plays Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Thursday in Forestburg.

“That is a very good game to end the season,” Van Laecken said. “We are going to continue to work on our defense and continue to try to get better offensively.”
