Dee not named STEM winner
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- The Miss America Organization announced the STEM scholarship winners Thursday for this year's Miss America contestants.
Miss South Dakota Tessa Dee, of Mitchell, who was named last week as one of five finalists for the first-ever scholarship, was not one of the winners.
According to a news release from the Miss America Organization, the scholarships were introduced for contestants who study and want to work in the fields of science, technology, engineering or math. The two winners of the $5,000 awards are Miss California Crystal Lee and Miss Mississippi Chelsea Rick.
The final night of the Miss America pageant will air at 8 p.m. Sunday on ABC.
