Dalton R. Show was born May 26, 1936, to Donald and Arvilla (Potter) Show on the farm near Winfred, SD. He died August 20, 2014, at Dougherty House, Sioux Falls, SD.
Dalton attended the McLeod Country School for 8 years, and then graduated from the Winfred School in 1954. After high school, Dalt attended college at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS in pre-veterinary for two years. He graduated with a BS in animal husbandry from SD State College in 1959. For a number of years, Dalton was a member of the SD Air National Guard.
Dalt married Gaylene (Carver) Show in Britton, SD on August 1959. He worked for the Hormel Company in Austin, MN doing jobs from having his own hog buying stations to being night plant manager. He worked for Hormel for 30 years before retiring. After retirement, he enjoyed doing outdoor activities, sports, reading western novels, and reading current events.
He is survived by one son, Michael (Lindy) Show; one daughter, Reani Show; grandchildren, Ben, Sharlene, and Shayane Show; brother, Ronald (Maxine) Show; sister, Nancy (Larry) Hyink; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother, Delmar Show; a nephew, Donald Show; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Nature Conservancy.
