Dakota Discovery Museum to host reception for Youth Art Month participants
The Dakota Discovery Museum will host a reception for the artists featured in the 2013 Youth Art Show on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.
The annual Youth Art Show offers South Dakota students the opportunity to show their work in a gallery setting and have it evaluated by professional artists. Works submitted include sculpture, pen and ink, photography, pencil, watercolor and other media.
This year the exhibit features 185 entries from 132 students representing seven South Dakota communities. At 1 p.m., an interactive art project for children will be presented. Professional artists' evaluations of student work will begin at 2 p.m.
Admission to the museum for the reception is free and open to the public. The exhibit and reception is being held at the museum, located on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University at 1300 McGovern Ave., Mitchell.
