Cyril F. Heiberger, 87, of Salem passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Salem. Visitation will begin at 9 am with a rosary at 3 pm at Kinzley Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at St. Marys at 5 pm with a rosary and prayer service at 7 pm.

Cyril Heiberger was born in Dolton, SD on August 23, 1926 to Leo and Anna (Lanners) Heiberger. He attended St. Stephens Grade School in Bridgewater and then graduated from St. Marys High School in Salem. He served in the US Army from 1945 to 1946. Cy married Mildred Kolbeck on August 23, 1949 at St. Anns Catholic Church in Humboldt, SD. He and his brother Gene owned the Standard Oil service station for 12 years and Cy then went on to work as an auctioneer/realtor. He proudly flew on the Honor Flight a few years ago.

Cy was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion.

He is survived by: his wife, Mildred of Salem; ten children, Sharon Kinzley of Salem, Craig (Kay) of Rapid City, SD, Jolene (Richard) Porter of Des Moines, IA, Ron (Alice) of Sioux Falls, Jerry (Sheila) of Clear Lake, SD, Sandy (Kirby) Ringling of Platte, SD, Doug of Salem, Tim (Mary Jo Ball) of Salem, Brian (Tracey) of Mesa, AZ, and Mary (Tyler) Northrup of Sioux Falls, SD; 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister, Audrey Meyers of Silt, CO; sisters-in-law, Helene Heiberger of Salem and Mary Therese Heiberger of Grand Junction, CO; brothers-in-law, Dean (Lory) Erikson of Salem and Charles Mulloy of Mobridge, SD and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gene and Steve; four sisters, Charlotte Mulloy, Leona Erikson, Margaret Weber, and Luella Nelson; two granddaughters, Amanda and Jessica Heiberger; and one son-in-law, Mike Kinzley. www.kinzleyfh.com
