Custer doctor agrees to pay IRS $110K in back taxes

CUSTER — A Custer doctor who recently pleaded guilty to income tax evasion has agreed to pay the Internal Revenue Service more than $110,000 in back taxes.

Court documents say 71-year-old Dennis Wicks created at least two fictitious entities to hide his income and personal assets to avoid paying income taxes over the course of several years.

The Rapid City Journal reported under terms of a plea agreement, Wicks pleaded guilty to one count of income tax evasion. He faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he's sentenced in December.
