Community center destroyed in blizzard to rebuild
RAPID CITY (AP) — The president of a community center that caved in during the early October blizzard says plans are to rebuild.
Orian Hawkins tells KOTA television (http://bit.ly/1eXmxEi ) that 40 inches of snow settled on the roof of the Rimrock Community Center and caused it to cave in.
Hawkins says he hasn't heard back from the insurance company but he believes the building is a total loss. He says the community owns the center, and members intend to have another building.
A committee has been put together to help move along the cleanup process, which Hawkins thinks will cost about $45,000. Meanwhile, the center is trying to salvage small stuff from the building.
