Colwell, Sailer win 29th Annual Poormans Fishing Tournament
Two new fisherman were crowned winners of the 29th Annual Poormans Fishing Tournament over the weekend on Lake Mitchell.
Chad Colwell, of Mitchell, and Shannon Sailer, of Rapid City, teamed up to win the event with 20.4 pounds. Paul and Travis Dagen took second with 20.05 pounds.
There were a total of 244 pounds of fish weighed in between the 38 teams. The participants caught mostly crappie and bluegill and several walleye.
Harlan Plamp and Alvin Manike had the largest fish of the tournament, which was an 11.25-pound northern pike.
Last year’s winners, Tyson and Dave Allen, fished with new partners this time around. Dave, who teamed up with granddaughter Tessa, took fourth.
