Cersosimo leads Mitchell to third win

Jacob Cersosimo recorded a hat trick to help lead the Mitchell Marlin boys' varsity hockey team to a 5-2 victory over Aberdeen Saturday at the Mitchell Activities Center.

The Marlins (3-17) had a 3-1 lead after the opening period as Cersosimo scored two goals and Jacob Rice scored one.

In the second, Alex Murtha scored another goal, which was answered by Aberdeen's Thomas Hogg to bring the score to 4-2. Hogg scored both Cougar goals in the game.

Cersosimo scored once more in the third to lift the score to 5-2. Mitchell's Jordan Grosdidier had a playmaker in the game with three assists.

The Marlins outshot the Cougars 35-26. Mitchell goalie Weston Gauger made 35 saves in the game.

The Marlins end their regular season against Sioux Falls at 7 p.m. Thursday in Sioux Falls.
