Ceremony to honor Murdo school officials pushed back due to storm
MURDO -- The ceremony honoring Harold Thune and two other mainstays of the Jones County Invitational basketball tourney has been pushed back a day and will happen tonight.
The Murdo gym will be named after Thune, and the floor will be named for Jerald Applebee. Former superintendent Maurice Haugland is also being recognized in the ceremony, which was scheduled for Friday night.
Because of the snowstorm that swept through the western half of the state Friday, the event has been moved to halftime of the first game tonight.
Since that game starts at 6:30 p.m., the ceremony will take place about 8 p.m. Sen. John Thune, the son of Harold Thune, is expected to attend, along with his three brothers and their sister.
