Catching up: Snyder wins discus at USD Snowbird
Lake Andes native and University of South Dakota thrower Cody Snyder won the discus at the USD Snowbird Saturday at Williams Field. The senior, who was competing unattached, won with a mark of 193 feet, 4 inches.
Snyder is looking to finish his senior season strong after claiming the Summit League Indoor Championship in the men’s shot put in March. He also reached the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships last year.
Duxbury, Gau help Augustana win
Augustana senior Brian Duxbury went 3-for-7 last week to help the Augustana baseball team to three wins. Duxbury, a Salem native, had two hits against Minnesota State-Mankato and one hit against Bemidji State.
Alexandria native Tyson Gau earned his fourth win of the season after pitching 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on four hits against Minnesota State-Mankato Sunday.
Wagner, Winckler finish top 15 at Midland Spring Invite
Mount Marty freshmen Kellie Winckler and Logan Wagner finished in the top 15 at the Midland Spring Invite Tuesday in Fremont, Neb.
Winckler, a Lake Andes native, shot a 92 to finished tied for 13th, while Wagner, a Parkston native, shot a 93 and tied for 15th.
Sadler named MMC athlete of the week
Mount Marty freshman baseball player Michael Sadler was named the school’s athlete of the week for his performance on the diamond. The Mitchell native is currently batting .304 with one double and a .348 slugging percentage. Sadler has pitched in five games with one start. He has a 3.00 earned run average and two saves.
