Catching up: Rietveld finishes 13th in 1,000-meter race

Several area teams and athletes competed in the Dordt Track and Field Invitational Jan. 12 in Sioux Center, Iowa.
- Among those who placed in the meet was Mount Marty freshman Berkley Rietveld, a Mitchell native, who finished 13th overall in the women’s 1,000-meter run for the Lancers with a time of 3 minutes, 22.25 seconds.
- Lindsey Mettler, a junior from Wessington Springs, finished 16th in the 1,000-meter run for the University of Sioux Falls, finishing in 3:29.12.
- Former Mitchell Kernels Justin and Jason Greenway, both sophomores running for Augustana College, tied in the preliminary round of the men’s 55-meter dash with a time of 6.69 seconds but did not make the finals. Justin finished third overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.98, while Jason finished 11th in 23.47.
- Kendra Knight, also a Mitchell native, finished first in two events at the meet. Knight, a University of Sioux Falls senior, won the women’s 400-meter dash in 58.26 and anchored the Cougars’ 4x400-meter relay team, which won by a landslide with a time of 4:05.62.
