Catching up: Miller records team-high 14 digs to lift Lancers

Mitchell native and defensive specialist Courtney Miller recorded a team-high 14 digs for the for the Mount Marty volleyball team in a 3-0 victory over Dickinson State Friday in Yankton.
Miller, who was named most valuable defensive player for the Lancers last season, leads Mount Marty (4-5, 0-0 GPAC) in digs through the first nine games of her junior season with 66.
The Lancers take the court again Friday in a nonconference matchup with Saint Mary.
• Augustana sophomore and former Mitchell Kernel Justin Greenway returned three kickoffs for 71 yards as the primary return option for the Vikings in a 41-28 victory over Minnesota State-Moorhead at Kirkeby-Over Stadium in Sioux Falls Saturday.
Greenway's longest return was 28 yards.
• Hanson graduate Jake Bartscher, a 6'5 233-pound redshirt freshman for the Vikings, also made an appearance in the win. Although he didn't record a catch, Bartscher played several snaps at tight end for Augustana in his college debut.
Augustana (1-0, 1-0 NSIC) travels for another Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference showdown with Minot State Saturday.
• Thad Campbell, a junior defensive back for the University of Sioux Falls football team, recorded 10 tackles in a 32-7 loss against No.11 Minnesota-Duluth in a NSIC matchup Saturday in Duluth, Minn.
This was the first career start at the position for Campbell, a Platte native, who recorded a career high in tackles in the loss.
• Former Wagner Red Raider standout Solomon St. Pierre, a sophomore for the Cougars, recorded three tackles at defensive back in the game.
USF (0-1, 0-1 NSIC) hosts Northern State University at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Sioux Falls as it looks for its first victory of the season.
