Catching up: Kocer gets win as SDSU routs Northern Colorado

Redshirt freshman Alex Kocer improved his record to 27-10 over the weekend, helping the South Dakota State University wrestling team to a 31-6 rout of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo.

Kocer, a Wagner native, won by a 5-2 decision at 149 pounds over the Bears’ Beau Roberts. Kocer is now 9-3 in duals this season.

With the win, SDSU moves to 3-1 in the conference and will battle for the Western Wrestling Conference championship Sunday in Fargo. The Jacks and Bison will wrestle at 2 p.m.

Richey helps Sioux Falls to 4-3 victory

Former Winner Warrior Austin Richey made his first appearance as a redshirt freshman for the University of Sioux Falls baseball team in a 4-3 win over Colorado State University-Pueblo Friday in Pueblo, Colo.

Richey came in as a designated hitter for the Cougars, going 1-for-4 with one RBI. USF (1-2) travels to St. Louis to take on Maryville University Saturday.

Galbraith boosting DSU off bench

Sharee Galbraith, a 6-foot junior for the Dakota State women’s basketball team, came off the bench to score six points and grab six rebounds in the Trojans’ 71-64 win over Valley City State University Saturday in Madison.

Galbraith, a Winner native, also recorded a block in the victory. DSU (11-17, 3-3 NSAA) hosts No. 4 Jamestown at 4 p.m. Saturday in Madison.

Farley has 2 RBIs for Dakota State in loss

J.D. Farley went 1-for-4 with two RBIs for the Dakota State University baseball team in a 6-5 extra-innings loss against Oklahoma Panhandle State over the weekend in Goodwell, Okla.

Farley, a junior from Winner, recorded another hit during the three-game series against OPS. It was the Trojans’ (0-3) first three games of the season.

DSU hits the field Friday and Saturday against Central Christian College in McPherson, Kan.
