Catching up: Augustana's Docken stays undefeated with win at Minot State

Winner native Jayd Docken, a junior on the Augustana College wrestling team, kept his undefeated season alive with an 8-3 decision in the Vikings’ 36-6 victory over Minot State Saturday at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls.
Docken, who scored three takedowns in the win, ranks fifth in NCAA Division II at 197 pounds.
Augustana (6-2, 2-0 NSIC) continues its season Saturday at the Ranger Duals in Kenosha, Wis.
- Briar Cliff sophomore Paige Herrboldt, an Olivet native, scored a season-high 13 points against Morningside College Jan. 4. She followed that performance with nine points, shooting 3-of-7 from behind the arc, in a 78-70 victory over Mount Marty College Jan. 8 in Yankton.
Briar Cliff (11-8, 5-5 GPAC) takes on Concordia Saturday in Great Plains Athletic Conference action in Seward, Neb.
- The Northern State University wrestling squad sits at 2-2 almost halfway through the 2013-14 season. Ian Muirhead, a senior for the Wolves and a Presho native, was one of three NSU wrestlers to pick up a victory in a 28-9 loss to Chadron State Dec. 14. Muirhead edged out the Eagles’ Jay Stine, winning 7-6 at 141 pounds.
Northern travels to Kearney, Neb., Saturday for a dual with the Lopers of the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
- Former Mitchell Kernel standout Kendra Knight, a redshirt senior on the University of Sioux Falls track and field team, recorded a first-place finish Saturday at the Minnesota-State Mankato Alumni Open in Mankato, Minn. She finished the 600-meter dash with a time of 1 minute, 34.63 seconds. Knight also competed in the 200-meter dash, where she finished in seventh with a time of 26.63 seconds.
The Cougars compete again this weekend when they travel to Sioux Center, Iowa, to take part in the Dordt Open.
- Ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division I at 174 pounds, Wagner native Robert Kokesh was one of seven Nebraska wrestlers to notch victories Saturday against the University of Pennsylvania in Lincoln, Neb.
Kokesh, a junior for the Huskers, pinned Penn’s Zach Agostino in 4:50 for the victory, the 91st of his career.
Nebraska (8-0) is ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division I and returns to the mat Saturday to defend its undefeated record against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
