Canova takes 2nd at state teener tourney

CLEAR LAKE -- Canova took second place in the VFW 13-14B teener state tournament Sunday, falling to Webster 18-6.

"We feel good about the tournament," Canova coach Mike Gassman said. "We were good enough to play and put it together when it counted."

Canova recorded five hits, while Webster had seven.

Cole Gassman, Connor Hamilton and Caleb Wobig each had a single and Mitch Kramer had a double.

Wobig took the loss on the mound.

Canova beat Kimball/White Lake 12-2 in six innings in the semifinals.

Cole Gassman got the win, striking out five and walking five in six innings.

Wobig had a double and single, Kendall Gassman had two hits and Kramer added a single.

Kimball/White Lake had two hits in the game.

VERMILLION 8, PARKSTON 6

MADISON 4, PARKSTON 0

VERMILLION -- Parkston took fourth at the VFW 13-14A teener state tournament over the weekend.

Parkston (20-5) lost to Vermillion 8-6 in the semifinals Saturday and fell in the third-place game 4-0 to Madison Sunday.

In Saturday's game, the losing pitcher was Alec Hohn.

Against Madison, Alex Scott took the loss on the mound and had two hits in the game.

HARRISBURG 11, TYNDALL 6

DELL RAPIDS 13, TYNDALL 4

VERMILLION -- The Tyndall teener baseball team fell to Harrisburg 11-6 Saturday, before losing to Dell Rapids 13-4 Sunday at the VFW 13-14A teener state tournament.

Against Vermillion, Nate Klinnert was the losing pitcher. Joey Slama and Sama Caba each had two hits.

In the loss to Dell Rapids, Collin Mann was the losing pitcher. Cole Goehring and Caba had one hit apiece.
