Bosworth to announce Senate candidacy
Annette Bosworth, a Plankinton native, said Friday she will announce next week her intention to enter South Dakota's 2014 U.S. Senate race.
She plans an announcement at noon Tuesday on her parents' farm near Plankinton.
Bosworth, 41, is a Republican who works as a physician in Sioux Falls.
One of South Dakota's Senate seats will be vacated by Sen. Tim Johnson, a Democrat who does not plan to seek re-election in November 2014.
Former governor Mike Rounds and state legislator Larry Rhoden have announced their candidacies for the seat on the Republican side, while former Tom Daschle aide Rick Weiland has announced on the Democratic side.
The primary election to choose a Republican candidate -- and also a primary on the Democratic side, if other candidates emerge -- will be in June.
