Twenty-six-year-old former inmate Lloyd White Face and 45-year-old Jamie Klinghagen are charged with aiding and abetting escape and conspiring to commit aggravated assault on a law officer. It was not immediately clear if they had obtained attorneys.

Corrections officials say staff at the penitentiary learned of the plot to help 38-year-old inmate Silver McClanahan escape during a medical transport Tuesday and prevented it.

McClanahan is serving a life sentence for killing Ronald Broadersen of Aberdeen with a hammer in 1994. He was not immediately charged in the alleged escape plot but is in disciplinary segregation.
