Bond set in Pierre false imprisonment case
PIERRE (AP) — Bond has been set at $1,500 for a Pierre man accused of holding his girlfriend against her will for more than a day and beating her.
KCCR radio reports that 32-year-old William Ross faces assault and false imprisonment charges. He requested a public defender and is due back in court Nov. 19.
Authorities allege Ross kept the 36-year-old woman in his apartment for more than 26 hours over the weekend by threatening to kill her and her family, and that he punched and choked her. Police say she eventually was able to contact someone who alerted police. Officers used a battering ram to gain access to the apartment late Sunday.
The woman did not require treatment at a hospital.
