Bon Homme wins two over weekend

WAGNER — The Bon Homme baseball team topped Wagner 7-4 and Vermillion 8-3 Sunday in Wagner.

Against Wagner, Bon Homme’s Chase Kortan earned the win, allowing one run in six innings while striking out 10. Kortan had two hits and three runs scored, while Cole Uecker and Austin Kaul each added a hit and two RBIs.

Wagner’s Logan Mudder suffered the loss, while David Kocer recorded two hits and Drue Soukup hit a triple in the loss.

Against Vermillion, Bon Homme scored five runs in the eighth to pull away after Vermillion tied the game in the bottom of the seventh. Kaul earned the win on the mound and had two hits.

Hunter Young went 3-for-4, Kortan had a home run and double and Mike Mesman added a hit and three runs scored.

The Cavaliers (9-3) secured the top seed in the East bracket of Region 1B and play Menno Wednesday.
