Boaters found dead in Charles Mix County
PLATTE -- A 61-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman were found dead Tuesday on a boat at Dock 44 Marina Bay.
The Charles Mix County Sheriff's Department found the bodies on what was described as a "large cabin boat" while responding to a report of a boating accident at 10 a.m. The bay is on the Missouri River near Snake Creek Recreation Area, 14 miles west of Platte.
The sheriff's office said the cause of death appeared to be carbon monoxide poisoning.
Names of the victims are being withheld while authorities contact the victims' families.
The matter is under investigation by the sheriff's office along with the state Division of Criminal Investigation and the state Department of Game, Fish and Parks.
