Mitchell Christian kept the game close in the beginning stages of the game and trailed by two points at the end of the first quarter.

But the Blackhawks were able to break the game open in the second half with help from Todd Stekl and Nick Miller.

Stekl scored 11 of his 17 points in the half, while Miller had 10 in the second half and 14 for the game.

"We worked all week on trying to slow the game down a little bit, but once again we were plagued by too many turnovers," Mitchell coach Dennis Martin said. "We didn't rebound the ball the way we should. I think if we would have rebounded it, then it would have been a pretty close game even with the turnovers."

Mitchell Christian could not take advantage of big games from Keegan Larson-Shields and Adam Rasmussen. Larson-Shields finished with 19 points and Rasmussen scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Eagles (2-16) play Menno today in Menno.

"We have to keep working hard, with the districts right around the corner," Martin said. "We think we are working hard, but we are going to have to keep pushing and we will get there."
