BHSU launches $37 million capital campaign
SPEARFISH (AP) — Black Hills State University has launched a large fundraising campaign for capital improvement projects.
The Rapid City Journal reports that the Spearfish school hopes to raise $22 million initially for an alumni welcome center, artificial turf for the football field and a scholarship fund.
The second phase of the $37 million capital campaign might include a new performing arts center on campus.
The university five years ago identified more than $200 million in needed projects on campus. University officials then hired a consultant; met with alumni, supporters and others; and narrowed the list to a more manageable $37 million.
