Bea Fern Pourier Fisher Fortune was born to John and Pearl (O'Rourke) Pourier on July 25, 1935 at the Cain Creek Ranch south of Emily, SD. She attended school at the Emily Elementary and Rapid City Central.

In 1951 Bea married Duane Fisher from Rapid City S.D. and later was blessed to share her life with 7 children. She lived in Rapid City until 1968 when they relocated to Huron, SD. In 1979 she moved back to Rapid City and worked at Lady Bee's Dress Shop until she enrolled in college at the Oglala Lakota College in Kyle, SD. She obtained college credit hours beyond her Associates of Arts degree in General Education in 1989. She was employed at Project Phoenix, a drug and alcohol treatment center located at Kyle, S.D., as a counselor and finished her career as a high school guidance counselor at the Red Cloud Indian School, Holy Rosary Mission, Pine Ridge, SD.

In 1990 Bea married Vern Fortune and lived on their Ranch near Kyle, SD. Her hobbies on the ranch included, reading, growing many beautiful flowers and tending to her yard. Bea had a very special bond with her children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed watching them compete in their rodeo events.

At the time of her death she resided in Wall, SD

Grateful for having shared her life with her husband, Vern Fortune, Wall, SD, five children: Bill (Liz) Fisher, Huron, SD, Coy(Liz) Fisher, Scenic, SD, Darla (Randy) Wilson, Colman, SD, Donna (Dan)Curr, Scenic, SD, Art (Cindy) Fisher, Kyle, SD, sixteen Grandchildren, eleven Great Grandchildren, one sister, Madeline Steen, Rapid City, one brother Gerald (Sonnie) Pourier, Scenic, SD and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bea was proceeded in death by her two daughters, Dianne Lynn and Bobbie Jo, her parents, John and Pearl Pourier, one sister, Verna Heathershaw, two brothers, Loren and Jackie Pourier.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, October 11 at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 221 Knollwood Drive, Rapid City with a Wake/Rosary Service at 7:00 pm.

Christian Mass be 10:00 am Saturday, October 12 at Mother Butler Center, 223 Knollwood Drive, Rapid City, with Rev. David Matzko, S.J. as celebrant.

Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery at Rapid City.

The family will be establishing a memorial.

Arrangements are with Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard, Rapid City.
