AT&T closing franchise stores in 4 SD cities
RAPID CITY (AP) -- AT&T is closing franchise cellphone and service stores in the South Dakota cities of Custer, Spearfish, Belle Fourche and Buffalo.
Company spokesman Alex Carey confirmed to the media that Express Wireless is no longer providing AT&T products and services in western South Dakota, but he said company policy prohibited him from saying why.
Carey said other AT&T outlets in the Black Hills remain open, including two in Rapid City. He said customers also can get help with problems by calling the company or visiting its website.
State Public Utilities Commissioner Chris Nelson said he's disappointed in the closings but that it's important to remember AT&T has invested millions of dollars in South Dakota.
