ATF seeking info on Yankton motel arson fire
YANKTON (AP) — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the arson fire at a Yankton Motel.
It took some 55 firefighters about seven hours to battle the Tuesday morning blaze at the Colonial Inn Motel, which destroyed the center of the motel and caused heavy smoke damage throughout.
The loss is estimated at approximately $500,000.
The ATF, the Yankton Fire Department, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and the South Dakota State Fire Marshal's Office conducted a fire scene examination and determined that the fire was deliberately set.
ATF Special Agent in Charge Scott Sweetow released a photo of a suspect and asked for people to come forward to provide additional leads.
