PIERRE — The newspapers published in Chamberlain-Oacoma, Presho and Freeman were among the most-honored weekly papers in the South Dakota Newspaper Association’s Better Newspapers Contest, the results of which were announced Friday and Saturday at the association’s annual meeting in Pierre.

In the General Excellence category, the Lyman County Herald, published in Presho, placed third in its circulation division (weeklies under 1,150).

The Freeman Courier won the General Excellence award in its circulation division (weeklies 1,151-2,000), and the Chamberlain-Oacoma Sun placed second in that division.
