Area volleyball roundup: Kelli Batterman leads TDA over MVP in four sets
TRIPP -- Kelli Batterman had a big night with 12 kills, 23 digs, two blocks and six aces to help lead Tripp-Delmont/Armour to a 3-1 high school volleyball win over Mount Vernon/Plankinton Tuesday in Tripp.
Set scores were 25-23, 22-25, 25-11, 25-23.
Hannah Just finished with 31 digs and seven kills for TDA. LaNae Fuerst had 13 digs and eight kills, Jessica Sandau recorded 18 assists and 13 digs and Rachel Mora tallied 13 digs.
Megan Bultsma recorded seven kills and three blocks for Mount Vernon/Plankinton. Kallyn Prangley finished with nine assists and Haley Haak recorded 18 digs.
TDA improved to 6-11 and takes on Scotland Thursday in Scotland, while MVP, which won the JV match, dropped to 10-10 on the season and faces Canistota Thursday in Canistota.
Scotland 3, Bon Homme 1
TYNDALL -- After dropping the first set, Scotland responded by winning the next three to defeat Bon Homme 3-1 in high school volleyball action Tuesday in Tyndall. Set scores were 22-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-19.
Amber Alvey recorded 20 assists and four aces in the win, while Kennidy Asche finished with two aces, nine kills, 15 digs and five blocks. Carley Skorepa had nine kills, 11 digs and five blocks. Christy Mogck tallied a match-high 38 digs.
Bon Homme was led by Caitlin McLouth with 12 kills and eight blocks. Vanessa Navratil had three aces, six kills and 10 digs. Alie Adams recorded 23 assists and Jody Kriz led the team with 35 digs.
Scotland improved to 10-8 with the win and takes on Tripp-Delmont/Armour Thursday in Scotland, while Bon Homme, which won the JV match, dropped to 12-10 and takes on Corsica/Stickney Thursday in Corsica.
White Lake 3, Bridgewater-Emery 0
EMERY -- White Lake picked up a straight-sets victory on the road over Bridgewater-Emery in high school volleyball action Tuesday in Emery.
Set scores were 25-13, 25-20, 25-20.
Maria Nightingale led the way for White Lake, tallying 13 kills and four blocks. Clara Moeller added nine kills, Jazmyn Hinker tallied six kills and eight digs, Kim Munsen had 33 assists and Rose Konechne and Erin Beckmann each recorded four aces.
Justine Dye recorded 11 kills, 10 digs and two blocks for Bridgewater-Emery in the loss. Mackenzie Schultz had 23 assists and six digs, Aly Hanssen had 10 digs and four kills, Chesney Arend had 14 digs and Brenda Weber had eight digs.
White Lake improved to 16-5 on the season and hosts South Central Tuesday. Bridgewater-Emery (11-11) faces Andes Central Tuesday in Lake Andes.
Lyman 3, Jones County 0
MURDO -- Lyman came out on top of three tough sets to defeat Jones County 3-0 in high school volleyball action Tuesday in Murdo. Set scores were 25-22, 26-24, 27-25.
Anna Flitner led Lyman with 17 kills, 15 digs and two blocks. Bailey Almond had 29 assists and 15 digs, Jessica Welter had 10 digs and Sara Herman had 19 digs.
Lyman improved to 9-10 with the win and takes on Philip Thursday in Presho.
Hanson 3, Menno 0
MENNO -- Kynedi Cheeseman recorded 12 kills in Hanson's win over Menno in straight sets Tuesday. Set scores were 25-14, 25-14, 25-10.
Katlyn Schroeder, Sydney Dodd and Erika Nelson each recorded five kills for the Beavers. Lindsi Dey served five aces and had nine digs. Cassidy Graham served three aces. Abby Kayser had 12 digs. Kendra Cheeseman posted 15 set assists and Keira Goergen had 12.
Courtney Schaeffer led the Wolves with three kills, one block, five set assists and 14 digs. Brittany Haberman added four kills, three blocks and eight digs. Ashton Diede had 15 digs. Shelby Huber had three kills and Christina Herrboldt served two aces.
Hanson is 15-6 this season and hosts Ethan Thursday in Alexandria. Menno is 1-20 and hosts Canistota Tuesday.
McCook Central/Montrose 3, Garretson 0
MONTROSE -- McCook Central/Montrose defeated Garretson in straight sets Tuesday night with set scores of 25-14, 25-22, 25-16.
C.J. Ristesund led the Fighting Cougars with 10 kills, six digs and three service aces. Anna Olinger recorded nine kills, six digs and four service aces. Dana Kirby had 13 set assists and Laura Klaudt had 12 set assists and eight digs. Brianna Painter recorded nine digs. Jean Skoglund had four kills and six digs.
Kim Weiland had five kills for the Blue Dragons. Jennie Hegge led the team with 13 digs while Chayce Brinkman put up 12 set assists.
McCook Central/Montrose is 8-13 this season and hosts Tea Tuesday in Salem. Garretson is 2-18 and hosts Tea Area Thursday.
Platte-Geddes 3, Miller 1
MILLER -- Platte-Geddes improved its record to 13-5 with a win over Miller in four sets Tuesday. Set scores were 24-26, 25-16, 25-23, 25-12.
Kelly Knudson was the team's kill leader with 15, while Shelby Rabenberg added 14. Knudson also led the Black Panthers in digs with 18. Kelli Sprik recorded 17 digs in the win and Maddy Tegethoff recorded 16. Sprik had 36 set assists. Knudson served seven aces and Kelli Sprik and MacKenzie Miller each had two service aces.
Jamie Mentzer recorded 14 kills and 18 digs for Miller. Kristen Peterka and Emma Steers each recorded 20 digs. Denae Schlechter had 25 set assists.
Platte-Geddes hosts Chamberlain Thursday in Platte. Miller is 12-10 this season and plays at James Valley Christian Thursday.
Wagner 3, Parkston 0
WAGNER -- Nicole Weber had nine kills in Wagner's win over Parkston in straight sets Tuesday. Set scores were 25-21, 25-11, 25-11.
Weber also had seven service aces and nine digs in the win. Kim Koupal had eight kills and Sydney Breen had 15 digs. Jessa Doom put up 25 set assists and added nine digs.
Laura Weiss had eight kills and nine digs for the Trojans. MacKenzie Lee had four kills and nine digs. Krista Radke recorded nine set assists.
Wagner (21-2) plays Andes Central Thursday in Lake Andes, while Parkston (8-11) hosts Parker Thursday.

BONESTEEL -- Andes Central picked up a win over South Central Tuesday in straight sets with set scores 25-15, 25-19, 25-18.
Andes Central was led by Kellie Winckler with two service aces, nine kills and seven digs. Payton Johanneson had one ace. Krista Winckler recorded 12 kills, 10 digs and three blocks. Dennisha Johanneson had 10 digs and Latasha Dion added nine. Sierra Svatos put up 27 sets assists.
Jamie Borszich had six kills for the Cougars. Courtney Dummer tallied 15 digs. Whitney Hutchison had two blocks and Jaylen Jeffords had three set assists.
Andes Central (19-3) hosts Wagner Thursday. South Central (8-9) hosts Gregory in its Setting Up a Cure - For Life match Thursday in Burke.
Freeman 3, Canistota 0
CANISTOTA -- Freeman recorded 15 team service aces in its win over Canistota in straight sets Tuesday. Set scores were 25-16, 25-22, 25-15.
Nicole Hinkley had five service aces for the Flyers. Dina Soulek and Grace Gering each served three aces while Shelby Bauer and Shelby Jensen each served two. Soulek led Freeman in kills with 15 and in digs with 12. Bauer recorded seven kills and 11 digs. Jensen had 10 digs and Lexi Graber added nine. Gering put up 28 set assists.
The Flyers improved to 7-9 with the win and play at Avon Thursday.
Natasha Letcher led Canistota with four kills and 23 digs. Chloe Nielsen had 12 digs, five blocks and eight set assists. Sydney Randall had 12 digs and Kassidy Buse served six aces.
The Hawks are 5-16 this season and host Mount Vernon/Plankinton Thursday.

Jaclyn Loban had 15 kills and 16 digs for the Vikings. Ariana Zuccaro had 10 kills. Tara Nihart tallied 32 set assists, 13 digs and eight service aces. Hannah Logan served two aces. Marissa Weber recorded 15 kills and 11 digs and served four aces for Sanborn Central/Woonsocket. Morgan Selland had seven kills and two blocks. Candace Page-Marten had 17 set assists. CHAMBERLAIN -- Chamberlain improved to 16-3 with a win over Winner in four sets Tuesday. Set scores were 17-25, 26-24, 25-16, 25-21.
Chamberlain was led by Abbey Handel with four service aces, nine assists and 14 digs. Jaymee Knippling served three aces and recorded 12 kills and five blocks. Laura Pazour had 12 kills and four blocks. Logan Pickner had 10 kills. Kennedy Wagner tallied 13 set assists and Alex Peterson had 12 digs.
Tessa Lester and Emily Richey each served four aces for the Warriors. Cassidy Hanson had 17 kills, one block and 13 digs. Sara Husher recorded seven kills and 19 set assists. Lindsey Calhoon had six kills and 11 digs. Kristin Hennebold put up 14 set assists.
Chamberlain plays Platte-Geddes Thursday in Platte, while Winner (17-7) plays at Red Cloud Thursday.
Gregory 3, Colome 1
GREGORY -- Gregory had four players with at least 10 digs as the Gorillas defeated Colome in four sets Tuesday. Set scores were 25-22, 15-25, 26-24, 25-20.
Brett Steffen led Gregory in digs with 19. Sierra Thomas added 15 digs and Desiree Stephen and Codi Horst each recorded 10. Thomas also had 38 set assists in the win. Cheyenne Salonen recorded 14 kills, two blocks and three service aces. Courtney Opbroek had 11 kills while Allison Sundquist and Mackenzie Odenbach each recorded nine kills.
Becca Moorhead had nine kills, 16 digs and three service aces for Colome. Mariah Kinzer recorded seven kills and served three aces. Tiffany Hauf had six kills and 12 digs. Tracy Routh put up 26 set assists. Rachel Shippy recorded 24 digs and two service aces.
Gregory is 10-8 after the win and plays South Central Thursday in Burke. Colome hosts White River Thursday.

HIGHMORE -- Highmore-Harrold's McKenzie Zilverberg served 11 aces in a four set win over Wolsey-Wessington Tuesday. Set scores were 22-25, 25-23, 25-18, 26-24.
Courtney Keller served five aces for the Pirates and recorded 13 kills. Tierny Hamlin had nine kills. Zilverberg put up 25 set assists.
Highmore-Harrold improved to 15-7 with the win and hosts Herreid/Selby Area Thursday. Wolsey-Wessington plays at Wessington Springs Thursday.
