Platte-Geddes 3, Andes Central 2

PLATTE — The Platte-Geddes volleyball team came away with its third win of the season after beating Andes Central in five sets Thursday.

Set scores were 17-25, 25-12, 22-25, 26-24, 15-13.

Platte-Geddes was led by Josie DeGroot, who had 11 kills, three blocks and six digs. Maddi Whalen chipped in with two aces, six kills and 12 assists. Kiera Hubers added eight kills and two blocks.

Brianna Erickson added eight assists, while Cassidy Plooster had four.

Payton Johanneson had 20 kills, three blocks and nine digs for Andes Central. Dennisha Johanneson added four aces, 12 kills and 12 digs.

Brooke Deurmier had seven aces and 31 assists for the Eagles.

Platte (3-5) plays Burke/South Central Tuesday in Burke, while Andes Central (2-4) plays at the Cavalier Clash Saturday in Tyndall.

Canistota 3, Howard 0

HOWARD — The Canistota Hawks volleyball team defeated Howard in three sets Thursday.

Set scores were 25-20, 25-15, 25-18.

Brianna Buseman led the way for Canistota. Buseman had five kills, three blocks and five aces. Jenny Hofer chipped in with five kills and one block, while Morgan Larson had 20 assists and three aces.

Taylor Noid led the way for the Howard. Noid recorded five kills, three digs and one block. Jessica Cavigielli added two kills and six blocks for the Tigers.

Canistota (3-3) plays at the Bridgewater-Emery tournament Saturday in Emery. Howard (1-9) hosts Bridgewater-Emery Monday.

Ethan 3, Corsica/Stickney 2

ETHAN — Darbi Gustafson had 12 blocks and eight digs to help lead the Ethan Rustlers volleyball team past Corsica/Stickney 25-11, 25-14, 22-25, 25-27, 15-9 Thursday.

Anna Mueller added nine kills, six aces and two blocks for the Rustlers. Rachel Hawkins had seven kills and Danika Pollreisz had six digs and seven aces, while Holley Lindeman had 14 assist.

Corsica/Stickney was led by Jackie Dethlefsen, who recorded 12 kills and two blocks. Hope Menning added six kills and six digs, while Brianna Kuyper had 12 digs for the Jaguars.

Ethan (9-3) won the JV match and plays Wessington Springs at the Bridgewater-Emery tournament Saturday. Corsica/Stickney (0-8) plays at the Cavalier Clash Saturday in Tyndall.

Kimball/White Lake 3, James Valley Christian 0

KIMBALL — The Kimball/White Lake volleyball team defeated James Valley Christian 25-20, 25-16, 25-11 Thursday.

Mary Kroupa led the way for the WiLdKats, recording 29 assists, 12 digs and three aces. Jazmyn Hinker chipped in with 11 kills and 11 digs, while Ivy Haines had nine kills, one block, eight digs and two aces.

JVC was led by Kristen Williams, who finished with four assists, 21 digs and one ace.

K/WL (4-4) won the JV game and plays at Wessington Springs Monday, while JVC (0-5) plays Hamlin Saturday in Hayti.

Bon Homme 3, Irene-Wakonda 0

WAKONDA — Bon Homme beat Irene-Wakonda 25-16, 25-15, 25-19 in a high school volleyball match Thursday night.

For Bon Homme, Alie Adams had five aces, 10 digs and 21 assists and Kelsey Sutera had 14 digs and five kills.

Bon Homme (8-1) won the JV game and plays in Wagner on Tuesday.

McCook Central/Montrose 3, Menno 0

SALEM — C.J. Ristesund had eight kills, 11 digs and one ace to help McCook Central/Montrose defeat Menno 25-18, 25-8, 25-9 Thursday.

Laura Klaudt had one kill, 22 assists, seven digs and two aces for the Fighting Cougars, who won the JV game. Danielle Hansen chipped in with seven kills and two blocks, while Brianna Painter had 14 digs and six aces.

Menno was led by Abby Herrboldt, who had three kills, three assists and four digs. Devon Bloch added two kills, two blocks and two digs for the Wolves.

Menno (0-6) plays Viborg-Hurley Monday in Menno. MC/M (3-9) hosts Flandreau Tuesday in Montrose.

Parkston 3, Lennox 1

PARKSTON — Laura Weiss had 20 kills to help lead Parkston past Lennox in four sets Thursday.

Set scores were 20-25, 25-13, 25-19, 25-20.

Halli Heisinger added 10 kills for the Trojans, while Whitney Weber had three aces and 31 assists. Kenzie Lee and Abbie Mechtenberg each had seven digs for Parkston.

Jessica Herrboldt led the way for Lennox. Herrboldt had nine kills and 16 digs. Taylor Anderson chipped in with eight kills.

Parkston won the JV game 2-1.

Parkston (7-2) plays Andes Central Saturday at the Cavalier Clash in Tyndall. Lennox (2-10) hosts Pipestone Area, Minn., Tuesday.

Wessington Springs 3, Chamberlain 2

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Wessington Springs topped Chamberlain in a close five-set match in high school volleyball action Thursday in Wessington Springs.

Set scores were 23-25, 25-23, 25-11, 17-25, 15-12.

Shyanne Kopfmann led the Spartans with 14 kills and two blocks, while Lexi Olinger added 17 assists and four aces.

Chamberlain was led by Abbey Handel with 10 kills, four blocks and 12 assists, while Alli Steckelberg posted 21 digs.

Wessington Springs beat Chamberlain 2-0 in the JV match.

Wessington Springs (2-3) plays at the Bridgewater-Emery tourney Saturday. Chamberlain (3-3) plays in the Dakota Conference tournament Saturday in Fort Pierre.

Hanson 3, Avon 1

ALEXANDRIA — The Hanson Beavers topped the Avon Pirates 25-16, 25-17, 21-25, 25-15 Thursday night in a high school volleyball match.

For Hanson, Kynedi Cheeseman had eight aces and 11 kills, while Hailey Doyle had 15 assists.

For Avon, Chesney Nagel and Ariana Oorlog each recorded 10 digs and Hanna Powers had 12 assists.

Hanson (8-1) won the JV match and plays Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at the Bridgewater-Emery tournament Saturday in Emery. Avon (2-5) plays Canistota at the Bridgewater-Emery tournament Saturday in Emery.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton 3, Mitchell Christian 1

Mount Vernon/Plankinton beat Mitchell Christian 23-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-16 Thursday in Mitchell.

For Mount Vernon/Plankinton, Mikayla Weiss had 33 assists and 14 digs and Kallyn Prangly added 17 digs.

For Mitchell Christian, Emily Schrag had 33 assists and Ellie Bleeker had 19 digs.

Mount Vernon/Plankinton (7-2) plays James Valley Christian, Monday, while Mitchell Christian (5-7) plays at Ethan Monday.

Viborg-Hurley 3, Bridgewater-Emery 0

VIBORG — Viborg-Hurley beat Bridgewater-Emery 25-18, 27-25, 25-18 in a high school volleyball match Thursday night.

For Bridgewater-Emery (4-2), Justine Dye had 12 kills and two blocks and Chesney Arend had 16 digs.

Bridgewater-Emery’s next action is Saturday at the Bridgewater-Emery tournament.

Freeman 3, Tripp-Delmont/Armour 1

ARMOUR — The Freeman volleyball team defeated Tripp-Delmont/Armour in four sets.

Set scores were 21-25, 25-10, 25-21, 25-22.
