Area towns to hold elections Tuesday
Two area mayors' seats are contested on area ballots Tuesday and one town will elect a new mayor after the longtime incumbent retired.
Bridgewater Mayor Ronald Pringle will be challenged by Kenneth Haugen.
Pringle has served as the town's mayor since 2011 and held the position a few years prior to that, according to the city finance officer.
Platte Mayor Rick Gustad will be challenged by Steve Christensen. Gustad was appointed to the position in January 2008, elected in June of that year, and has been mayor since.
He works at B&L Communications and also is the city's fire chief.
Residents in Scotland will elect a new mayor after Ronald Orth resigned prior to moving to Sioux Falls. Zachary Bakke and Curtis Hofer will run for the position.
